General Manager
Carl comes to Cutalong from The Federal Club in Glen Allen, VA where he served as General Manager since 2017. Prior to his time at The Federal Club, Carl served as the General Manager and Director of Golf for the properties of Royal New Kent, Stonehouse, and Brickshire Golf Clubs. Carl is a Richmond, Virginia native and a graduate of Trinity Episcopal High School. Carl attended Virginia Commonwealth University on a full golf scholarship and in 1989, received a B.S. in Business Administration. Carl is a 28-year Class A PGA Member. Carl and his wife of 25 years, Kimberly, live in Powhatan County with their daughter Natalie and rescue puppy, Grady. In his free time, Carl enjoys making road trips to new places with his family and working in and around their country home. Carl is excited to be a part of the Cutalong team and he is looking forward to watching Cutalong grow into a full service club.
Director of Golf & Instruction
Jack was a state golf champion at Albemarle High School and went on to graduate from Georgia Southern University. Jack has been a Master PGA Professional since 1996 and has held many roles in the golf industry. He took on the Director of Golf position at Spring Creek when it first opened. After 4 years, Jack took the position as the Director of Golf at the Glenmore Club. After his 11-year tender at Glenmore, Jack accepted the position of Head Golf Professional here at Cutalong at Lake Anna July 2021. Jack enjoys teaching all skill levels the game and enjoys spending time with his family.
Director of Membership
Chris grew up in Fredericksburg Virginia spending many summers on Lake Anna. He graduated from George Mason University in 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in sports management. Chris spent much of his time in college working closely with the athletic department on social media and marketing content. After graduating, Chris took an internship with the Portland Trail Blazers working in marketing and live digital content. Following his stint working in the NBA, he moved back to Virginia to later come across the opportunity to work at Cutalong. Chris has been working at Cutalong since July of 2020 while the course was still in construction. In his free time, he enjoys playing basketball, golfing, playing video games and hanging out with friends & family.
Jimmy
Director of Golf Course & Grounds
Jimmy Pierson comes to Cutalong from Long Island National Golf Club in Riverhead, NY. A
high-end private golf club located on the east end of Long Island. He has been successful at
turf management in various climates throughout his career spanning coast-to-coast. Most
notably, the Northeast for the last 10 years. Jimmy started his career in southern Utah where he grew up and moved on to Medinah Country Club just outside of Chicago in 2011 in preparation for the 2012 Ryder Cup. Shorty after, he was given the opportunity to move to Long Island where he spent the last 5 years as a Golf Course Superintendent. Jimmy has extensive experience with maintaining championship conditioned golf courses with an emphasis on tournament ready bent grass greens. Jimmy graduated from the Rutgers Professional Turf Grass Management Program in 2013. He has been married to his wife, Stephanie for 5 years and have an 8-month-old little girl named Olivia.
Eric "EJ"
Assistant Golf Course Superintendent
Eric otherwise known as EJ, was born and raised in Louisa County and graduated from Louisa High School in 2005. EJ started working at Cutalong in 2019 and was highly involved with the grow in of the golf course. EJ enjoys coaching youth football and spending time with his family. He has two beautiful kids, one son and one daughter.
Assistant Golf Course Superintendent
Alex grew up in Unionville, Virginia. He studied landscape and turf grass management at Virginia tech and graduated in 2020. He has 8 years of experience in the golf industry and has been with Cutalong as the assistant superintendent since March of 2022. In his free time he enjoys playing golf.
Equipment & Facilities Manager
Shawn grew up in a variety of areas from Cape Cod to North Carolina. Shawn brings to Cutalong more than 30 years of experience working at various clubs. He began his career in the golf industry at Medal of Honor Golf Course and comes to us most recently from Lee’s Hill in Fredericksburg. Shawn's wealth of knowledge in the golf industry will add strength and experience to an already great team at Cutalong. In his free time Shawn enjoys hanging out with his family and Beta testing PC games. Shawn has been a GCSAA member since 2008.
Club Operations Administrator
Anderson grew up at Lake Anna and went to Louisa County High School. He graduated from Roanoke College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. While attending Roanoke College Anderson and his friends hosted their own radio show with one of the local broadcast stations. In February 2021 Anderson joined the team at Cutalong, in which he further developed his management, communication, and entrepreneurial skills. He is an avid car enthusiast and music listener. His hobbies include working on cars, discovering new music, and hanging out with friends.
Kodi grew up in Fredericksburg, Virginia where he graduated from Chancellor High School in 2021. After graduating high school, Kodi played football at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia before transferring back home after his first year. Kodi has been working at Cutalong since March 2022 and has now begun his journey of getting a PGA title. After finishing the PGA Program, Kodi hopes to take a position as a Director of Golf and help lead a golf course. In his free time, Kodi loves to play golf with friends and family while also coaching travel baseball and middle school softball.
Golf Service Supervisor
Chase grew up in Louisa Virginia and has been living here since he was born in 2004. He graduated from Louisa County High School in 2022 and is currently attending PVCC to get his associate degree. After acquiring this, he plans on transferring to Virginia Tech to finish getting an Engineering degree. Chase joined Cutalong a little over 2 years ago starting as a cart attendant. This job has not only taught him about golf but also helped Chase advance his communication skills, work ethic, and time management. In his free time, he enjoys golfing and hanging out with friends.
