May 11, 2021 - Cutalong at Lake Anna, Virginia’s premiere master planned private golf community, announced today that it is partnering with leading architecture and design firm GuernseyTingle to create various golf and resident amenities, including clubhouses, a resident activity center, golf villas and other facilities. Artist renderings are expected to be released early this summer, with the official grand opening of the golf course set for July 1, 2021. Development is led by Stillwater Equity Partners.
Over the course of its 37-year history, GuernseyTingle has become one of the largest architectural firms on the Virginia Peninsula. The firm takes a collaborative approach to relationship building, creative visioning and design-build project delivery serving clients across the U.S.
GuernseyTingle has significant architectural design, interior design, and mater planning experience in a variety of areas including commercial, resort, recreational, hospitality, residential and institutional. In
2005, the firm earned a Gold “On the Boards” Design Award from the National Association of Home
Builders for the clubhouse at Heritage Shores, a two-level 32,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility in
southern Delaware. The project was also a finalist for Golf Inc. magazine’s annual Clubhouse of the Year
awards, finishing among the top five in the U.S.
GuernseyTingle has also been recognized for its participation in multiple renovation and master
planning projects at Kingsmill Resort, the only AAA Four Diamond golf resort in Virginia and home of the
LPGA Pure Silk Championship. Among other initiatives, GuernseyTingle was selected for the renovation
of the Kingsmill Resort Spa, the Elements 1010 resort center restaurant and The Estate at Kingsmill, a
7,000-square-foot, four-bedroom private estate that was transformed into a luxury rental property.
“We are very excited to be partnering with the seasoned leadership teams at Stillwater and Cutalong to
bring key aspects of this incredible project to fruition,” said Thomas G. Tingle, AIA, president of
GuernseyTingle. “Our team looks forward to leveraging its strengths to design a world-class package of
amenities that will be enjoyed by residents, members and visitors for generations.”
Cutalong is a master planned private golf community adjacent to Lake Anna in Louisa County, Virginia
near the town of Mineral. It features a completed 18-hole championship private golf course designed by
renowned architect Tom Clark and consultant Ron Whitten, longtime senior architecture editor of Golf
Digest.
A true concept course created as a 21st century National Golf Links design, Cutalong showcases features
from famous British and American courses while also highlighting the area’s mining heritage. Actual
spoil mounds from the locale’s mining days can be found one some holes, while railroad timbers flank
bunkers on others.
Stillwater Equity Partners, the developer, confirms plans for other community amenities including
dining, pools, walking paths, pickle-ball courts, tennis courts and marina access to Lake Anna. Single-family
homes and villas will be built during the first phase of construction, including options that will be
rentable on a nightly basis.
